This free online training, titled “Effective Communication Strategies for Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, Blind and Visually Impaired Patients,” will demonstrate how to best serve these and all patients in primary care and other ambulatory settings.
Attendees will hear from Dr. Michael McKee, who will provide expertise on health care access for Deaf patients; Padma Taggarse, executive director at Health Services Advisory Group, who will share her experience providing Everyone With Diabetes Counts (EDC) classes in American Sign Language (ASL); and J. John Pimentel, Diabetes Program Manager & Vision Rehabilitation Therapist at INSIGHT, who will speak about diabetes self-management classes for the blind and more broadly on improving health care access and quality for blind patients.
