The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' Dr. Paul McGann, Chief Medical Officer for Quality Improvement; Jean D. Moody-Williams, Deputy Director, Center for Clinical Standards and Quality; and Dennis Wagner, Director, Quality Improvement and Innovation Group, have been selected as Citizen Services finalists for the 2016 Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals (SAMMIES), which recognize outstanding individuals in public service. McGann, Moody-Williams and Wagner were nominated for their successful efforts in increasing patient safety and reducing preventable patient harm in U.S. hospitals through the CMS Partnership for Patients initiative. Their efforts resulted in an estimated 2.1 million fewer medical errors and saved nearly 87,000 lives. Click here to learn more.
